  • Location: Bangor, Maine
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, shot at 50mm
  • ISO: 400
  • Shutter: 1/125
  • F-stop: 2.0
  • Processed: Lightroom

Notes:  We went to my girlfriend’s friends place today for her birthday and had a big cookout.  I was the grillmaster today, but I did get a chance to snap a few shots while they were making the food.  It was a nice sunny day that turned into thunder storms, so we ended up finishing the cooking on the stove.  It was a good day all around, Happy Birthday Alyssa!

  • Location: Studio
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Canon EF 18-55mm 3.5 to 5.6, shot at 52mm
  • ISO: 100

Notes: Sorry about all of the older shots but, I just wanted to get some of these up. I will have some new stuff up this weekend.  I just wanted to post this up, because it brought me back to to my days when I rocked the crayons.  I never could color in between the lines and I still can’t, haha.

  • Taken: May 26, 2009
  • Location: Studio
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Canon EF 18-55mm 3.5 to 5.6, shot at 54mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter: 1/50
  • F-stop: 5.6
  • Processed: Lightroom 2

Notes: My girlfriend’s dad has these small scale model airplanes and after looking at them for a while I decided I wanted to take some photos of them.  I decided to actually build a mini set to photograph the planes, so I went outside and gathered some dirt, grass, twigs and anything else I found interesting and I built a mini air strip.  I think it came out pretty good and I wanted to post up some of the other shots too so you could see it and the set up I was shooting.  For this particular shot I used a small LED flash light and a flash with a blue gel to get the effect.

Today’s Photo:

  • Taken: May 24, 2009
  • Location: Studio
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Canon EF 18-55mm 3.5 to 5.6, shot at 50mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter: 1/200
  • F-stop: 16
  • Processed: Lightroom 2

Notes: I wanted to play around with lighting transparent objects, so I had this glass vase that that I new would work perfect.  I lit the background with my 430 ex flash with a purple gel that I got from  a lee gels sample swatch(it was free and the gels fit the flash perfect).  I bounced the flash off the white board on the background and had a piece of white  board on each side of the vase.  I took a lot of photos with variety of different gels and I did some with drops of water that I will have to post up.

Today’s Photo:

  • Taken: May 23, 2009
  • Location: Brewer, Maine
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Tamron LD Di 70-300mm 4 to 5.6, shot at 300mm
  • ISO: 100
  • Shutter: 1/200
  • F-stop: 5.6
  • Processed: Lightroom 2

Notes: This photo was taken on our way back from Bucksport, down at the water front in Brewer.  I know this is a photo you have probably seen many times but, I still find Dandilions interesting to look at.  This was shot in RAW, like always, and edited in Lightroom with an aged photo preset, whitebalance adjustment, playing with the blacks, and a touch of sharpening.  I don’t usually do this much editing to my photos but, I have been bitten by the bug lately and I feel the need to play!

Today’s Photo:

  • Taken: August 2, 2008
  • Location: Bangor and Brewer, Maine
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Canon EF 18-55mm 3.5 to 5.6, shot at 55mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter: 10 sec
  • F-stop: 14
  • Processed: Lightroom 2, Photomatix 3, Photoshop CS4

Notes: This shot was taken in Bangor and Brewer actually, I was on the bridge between the 2 cities and my camera straddled the line between them.  We were on a late night stroll and I was messing around with long exposures that night and this wasn’t too long after Hollywood Slots had opened so I wanted to snap a photo.  I really liked how the sky came out in these shots from all the light polution, I wish the ISO would have been much lower, but it was still a fairly new camera at the time.

Today’s Photo:

  • Taken: June 30, 2008
  • Location: Orono, Maine
  • Camera: Canon Xti
  • Lens: Canon EF 18-55mm 3.5 to 5.6, shot at 21mm
  • ISO: 800
  • Shutter: 1/60
  • F-stop: 3.5
  • Processed: Lightroom 2

Notes: This is an older shoot I did with Ashley (my girlfriend) at the Black Bear Inn in Orono, Maine.  I got a free 2 night stay there from my work, so on the last weekend before it expired we decided to use it.  It was a lot of fun and I got to walk to work one of the days because it was literally across the street.  Now for this photo shoot we decided to tear the hotel room apart (by we I mean “I” wanted to) and use the light in the room and the sheets for a backdrop.  It was a lot of fun just taking what was around and making something out of it, this was just one of my favorites that came out of the shoot.  I really want to do something again like this some time, it really gets the creative juices flowing when everything is all done by the seat of your pants with what is around you.  I suggest you go out and try it and have fun shooting!

Notes: This is a older picture from last fall that I stumbled across and I like the composition, so I thought I would post it.  The lighting is horrible and I would light it completly different now, but like I said I like the composition maybe I will shoot something like this again.
